Issues with oil?

Hello all,

The Evo X engine asks for 5-30 oil, but instead 5-20 was added.

Question,

How detrimental is this?
Should I switch to 5-30 ASAP or on the next oil change?

I'm in Vancouver, BC

Thank you in advance

Yes, just wait, no worries, do a little research and you'll find a bunch of info on different oil weights for the car.

Weird thing is that I went into the dealership and was asking how to keep my warranty if I do my own oil changes. He said to keep receipts etc so you can prove maintanence is upheld. That beside the point he showed me a mitsubishi chart that he had on the wall. It showed synthetic 5-30 for evo's between 08-12 and then he said the 13 and 14 year evo's take conventional. When he said that I was like damnnnn, now I need to buy convententional scan the receipt and then return it to buy mobil0-40 synthetic. Why do you guys think Mitsubishi just all of a sudden said the 4b11t engine needs conventional over synth on the later models. Doesn;t make any sense. Now I dont know which oil I should put in there. I think synthetic is still the smarter way to go right?

It lowers the cost of ownership/maintenance, however the user manual specifies synthetic oil. Mitsubishi dealers are useless.
When in doubt, always refer to the user manual.
