Check engine notification during acceleration.

So my problem is that when I accelerate in 1st and 2nd gear and sometimes in 3rd or 4th if I pass someone, I get a Check Engine notification on the display panel (where it shows the mileage of the car) and the brake light comes on. The notification and brake light turn off after a few seconds. This happens when I give it a little extra gas, maybe 50% throttle. I do not notice any hesitation and the yellow check engine light does not come on/is not on. This just started about a week or so ago. My mods are listed in my sig. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That light is usually to indicate knocking. Get back with Craig.

Check your brake fluid and pads. If your pads are worn down the brake fluid level will drop and any sudden movements will cause it to think it's low on fluid. Is it a circle with an exclamation mark that pops up in the display?

I just checked my break fluid and it was low and it is probably time to get new pads too (50K miles with original pads). Yeah it is the circle with the exclamation point.

the check engine flash is an aftermarket software modification called "tephra mod"

because a programmer named "tephra" wrote it

your car has a tune on it that is set to flash that light if your car is knocking under full acceleration. It's a safety feature, but it is alarming if you don't know what it is or why it's doing it.

Can you not read? OP specifically said it was NOT the CEL. He already confirmed it was low brake fluid/pads.
