Bunch of installs today and the WOW factor

So I had a few installs today.

Whiteline front sway
Whiteline front control arm bushings
Ohlins 10k front 12k rear
Girodisk brakes
AMS steel lines
Raybestos ST47 pads
Motul RBF600
TWM shift cage, Works Short shifter and all the bushings.

I think the biggest WOW is the brakes. Never felt anything stop so fast. I wasn't expecting it. Really have to get use to it but very confidence inspiring. I feel like I'll be able to brake much later at the track. The rears can scream like a stuffed pig but it's worth it.

The shifting is amazing now as well. So solid and such a short throw. Really glad I decided to replace the cage with everything else.

I was a little hesitant about adding the front sway after all the things I read about it causing understeer. I was even more hesitant when the shop set it at its stiffest and left the rear at medium. On my way home I took a few onramps and off ramps that I take all the time. I know pretty well how it handles them. It was another HUGE WOW. Stuck like glue, no understeer and body roll was non existent.

The shop left the Ohlins at the settings they were at when CBRD sent them to me. I don't know what that was. I'll play with them tomorrow. Was too tired after being at the shop from 9:30am until about 9:30pm.

I'm glad I trusted the shop with the decision to install the front sway and with the stiff setting.

Now I can't wait to go to the track and see my times fall.

Had Massimo install the parts. Have always used RRE up until this time. Figured I would try something different.

I actually replaced my Stoptech with the Raybestos. If you think the Stoptech stop well, you will be in for a surprise going to Raybestos. I would say it feels like double the stopping power and with less pressure on the peddle. Although that may have more to do with the steel lines than the pads.

Got a chance today to check the settings on the Ohlins. They were all maxed out at full stiff. Lol so I backed them off. Did front 10 clicks from softest and rear 15. But haven't had a chance to drive it. Going to do that in about an hour.

Awesome!

If you don't mind me asking, you mentioned you were at the shop from 9:30am until about 9:30pm, how many hours of labor and how much $?

I've been doing all the work on my car by myself to save money and it's rewarding, but I'm at the point where I need stuff done that I don't know if I want to deal with the headache of doing it myself.. Such as TBE install on a car that's 8+ years old..

Paid about 1200 for everything but that also included 3 bottles of Brake fluid. And he wasn't working on it that whole time. Started about 10:30 and the last hour or so he was installing my old coils on my friends car.

Glad you like them bryan-

I should have notified you that they shipped with the adjusters on full stuff for less likelihood of being damaged (they protrude more)

The ohlins rule- sounds like you got a nice installation too!!

Now I can't wait to go to the track and see my times fall.

If my lap times are any indicator here is my modification list and lap times for each part. I progressively added parts and tracked lap times to See the results and now much each part affected my time

To leave all opinions out and to let the data and lap times speak for themselves

Local track I run, Ridge Motorsports park Shelton WA 2.5 miles

All stock evox 2011 GSR - 2:02.4

Mods done with associated times:

Carbotech XP8 pads front and rear, DOt 4 fluid, Toyo R1R 265 35 R18 on enkie rpf1 18x9.5 +15 offset
Lap time 2:01.5

KW v3 coil overs and with all above already mentioned
Lap time 2:00.4

White line rear sway bar and upgraded end links with all mod above
Lap time 1:59.27

There ya go. All stock motor. Suspension and grip is what i wanted first. Now if I decide to add power later I will slowly cut more time. But without first doing suspension work I have no idea what I affect when adding power.

Oh and don't forget about your alignment. Very important.
0-0 toe front to rear and -3 front -2 rear camber. Great set up for me

Balance= fast

Nice. Yea too late for me to see what individual changes they make. But I'll be able to see changes as I dial it in. In reality it would have been less than scientific anyways since I have only done 3 track days. I'm sure my times would have slowly come down anyways. My only track experience is Big Willow at Willlow Springs and I think my first day I dropped a ton of time. From this point forward it's going to get tougher and tougher to drop time. I went from 1:55 on my first session of the day down to like 1:41.43 on my last session of that day. On the last session of my third time doing a track day I was at 1:36.033.

But I think at the very least when I go again towards the end of June I will be able to feel difference at each corner. I'm in the process of making a splitter so between dialing that in along with the angle of attack on the rear wing and adjusting the coils and sway bars I should slowly start to feel what is doing what.

As far as alignment I'm currently at -3 front and -1.8 rear.

That's some great info. Do you have any plans for a front sway before you add power? I'd love to see what times you pull with full swaybars.

Thats awesome keep it up, I am always learning more each day out trying to be a better driver. You are correct, so much time can be shaved with just our own ability.

I am looking to upgrade front lower ball joints to fix the roll center in the front of the car from lowering, and aero next as well. For power I was thinking something simple like an ECU flash.

Looking at that also yes, I am also looking at fixing the roll center with new ball joints from white line, from lowering. One concern I have is when I do front sway, you get under steer, which evo's do naturally, however I can always counter act that with rear sway adjustments because I have the white line adjustable one, and also bound and rebound settings front and rear on the coils. We'll see. I am very interested also. Looking to get back out there soon this summer.
