Can I cancel my extended warranty? Add 400 HP
I bought a brand new 2014 EVO in September of last year but it has turned into a weekend car, I've put just a little over 4k miles on it and I want to do some modding for fun which would void my warranty anyway.
Has anyone done this? I'd like to add 100 horses to make my weekend grocery driver to make it really fun!
Edit:
I decided tonight that I am not going to mod this car, I am going to sell it and purchase a new M3 instead. How much do you think I will get for an un-moded 2014 Evo X in mint condition with less than 4.500 miles?

The most economic, rational, and reliable way to do this is simply get a 3-port boost control solenoid and a protune. You will get about 390 to 400 bhp.
Have you modded a car before? I have been having problem with my recent aero mods. My Evo had been at the shop for the week. I took it back yesterday late in the afternoon after the supposed completion, and there are still problems. I have to go to the shop again later this morning to schedule a fix. For your build, a 3-port and tune sounds simple enough, but still I have seen many people run into huge depression because of such basic things. Some people tune their MR with Cobb AP. Some use OTS tune and it doesn't run right. Some have imperfect tune and the low RPM boost surge bent a rod.
Sometimes we wish modding is fun and rewarding, since you are spending money, right? The reality, however, is usually you are buying trouble with that money. Just something think about.
Edit: To cancel the extended warranty, simple talk to your dealer. You may not get a full refund, but yes, that can be cancelled.

Yeah I would cancel the warranty if your looking to mod your car.. I work with an administration company for contracts and if we inspect a vehicle and it has mods it will deny the claim and void/cancel the contract at that point.

Great news, I talked to the dealer and they will cancel the extended warranty and set a check to my loan bank. Can you cancel the standard warranty as well? I assume not since it's a manufacturer warranty.
Also whats the best way to add 100 horses? I want to smoke M3's and Vettes'

Don't let any of these scary minded members fool you. I bought my car with 100 miles and voided the warranty at 3000 miles with pro tune and a turbo back exhaust. I'm at 35k miles now, and the only issue I have is test pipe 02 CEL... otherwise I'm clean.. SMOKING M3'S but not vettes lol

The thing is, if you want the M3 level of performance, you have to also pay for the M3 level of cost and the M3 level of maintenance.

I talked the my local mitsubishi dealer who does a lot of the modding for evos and tracks his own evo. He said for a couple grand he could get my evo to 400 HP with bolt ons E85 mapping/tune. He said for 500 hp I would need to spend close to 15k?
Does that sound right?

For 500 hp, $15k estimation is too low. I wouldn't ever want to drive a 500 bhp Evo modded for only $15k, because that will be less reliable than a Land Rover. For the power, you need a built block, turbo, and AWD drivetrain upgrade to handle the power. I say to do it right, it will cost the north of $25,000. You should budget $35,000 or more, in case if things go wrong for a such a complicated build. Here is an estimate based on the listed price (labour included) of Jacks Transmission:

To be clear, there's no way to hit 400 Wheel HP with a 3-port and a tune on pump gas. CBRD just did my X: Doing 93-octane tune with AFe dry panel and a 3-port and I made 290whp on a Mustang Dyno. Now if you're using a Dynapack, calculating in drivetrain loss correction, then maybe it's 400hp. Maybe.
