newb exhaust question

complete newb here. Is there no reason to get a 3" exhaust with the stock cat because of the neck down?

You don't need a 3" exhaust if you're happy with the stock one. I got one originally because I don't like the look of the stock exhaust, and I wanted something louder.

actually i asked the wrong question. What i meant to ask was, the magnaflow w/ 3" MAP pipe will bolt with the stock cat just fine right?

Yes, you can use that exhaust with the stock cat.

3 inch exhaust to the 2.5 inch stock cat will need an adapter flange. You can buy one on the ETS website. Or else you have a chance for an exhaust leak.

Honestly, after tuning my car with a testpipe, it sounds very mean with the boring stock exhaust. I had my wife open it up next to me and it sounds nice and deep almost a booming rushing noise that sounds awesome.

Wait, modify your car a bit, then see if you want an exhaust. Also have someone punch it next to you in your car to judge. From inside it's hard to tell how an exhaust really sounds but I really like mine now when I thought it was too quiet stock.
