Question Keep My Ralliart or Go Used or New Evo?

Looking to possibly upgrade my 09 Ralliart to an Evo MR. I'm currently sitting at 105K mi. The car doesnt seem to have any problems from what I've noticed. Just starting to see some rust build up on the under body frame of the car. It needs some new brakes. Just put 2 new tires on it. Changed the transmission fluid. Got it's AWC pump replaced half a year ago. So pretty much normal maintenance so far. I haven't owned any Mitsubishi vehicles for a VERY long time. Had an 08 GTS Lancer for about a year and traded it in for this Ralliart. Had the Ralliart since around 80K mi. about 2.5 yrs now so I dont have any idea how reliable this car will be in the higher miles as I havent been with Mitsubishi for an extremely long time.

My main question being, should I consider trading in this car now before it starts having a lot of major problems (I'd trade up to an Evo New or Used) or hold on to the Ralliart until the major problems start to show up? Just looking for some input on this as it seems like a lot of performance cars start having problems after 100K.

If you do think I should trade in the Ralliart should I buy New or go Used Evo? If I go used I want something low on miles. 25K or less about. I know buying used is usually the best way not to lose on depreciation but a used Evo? I mean, who buys an Evo, puts only 20K on it and trades it in? I'm gonna guess someone that beat on the car most likely and not knowing how the previous owner drove scares me a bit to be honest lol.

Found a used 2012 Evo for $29K 13K mi. New Evos near me are around $39-42K

New to the forum. First post. Just looking for everyone's opinions. Thank you.

If you can afford the evo get it. A new one. And for the record, a lot of evos are not daily drivers. Mine is 6 months old and only has 2k miles so it's easy to have a low mile evo. The only concern for a used buyer is how it was treated for those miles.

I see. So you think it's a good idea to get rid of the Ralliart at this point. Considering its condition?

Are you content or is the grass always greener? Evo is an awesome car but it's a slippery slope with mods.

I like my Ralliart (wouldn't mind a little more power though), but when I see rust starting to develop and it being such high miles, I'm worried that something may go on it soon. So that was my main worry. From experience or knowledge, do you know how long a car like the Ralliart may last at mine's current point? By this I mean have you heard of Turbo charged cars similar to the ralliart start to develop problems when they are driven that long. Mine is completely stock.

As for the Evo, I know I'll be content with it. Eventually I'd do some mods but nothing too crazy as I wouldnt be getting it just for track racing.

You figure if anything major goes out in it, youre on the hook cause its out of warranty. Weigh that potential cost vs cost of getting a new Evo. I bought mine used but only had like 4k miles on it.

100k miles is a considerable amount. If you want an Evo, I'd grab one up! Its a fun car.

If I had a Ralliart, I'd trade it for an Evo.

So if I found an Evo with only 13K and stock you think anyone could really beat on it bad enough to cause something to go pretty early on it?

Oh for sure. That's a gamble you take with getting a used car but theres the trade off of paying less than a new one.

I see no reason to trade a Ralliart for an MR.

Get some rust protection and do mods. Dont the same parts fit both mostly?

That's the hard part. I see the two cars very similar so I kinda just wanna keep the RA but because it's getting older I kinda wanna trade in for an MR as well. Some parts don't fit as the Evo has a wider body kit. I think exhaust systems mainly are routed differently.

Starting to mod a car at 100K though you think is a good idea?

Only other reason I wanna upgrade is because the Evo is now discontinued. I don't want them to be very rare to find new let's say a year or two from now and not be able to buy one. You think this is a worry or nothing to be concerned about?

There won't be new ones available in two years. Dealer stocks are dropping daily. Not flying off the shelves, but me and a few others I have read on the forum got in now because of them being discontinued. Grab one if it means a lot to you.
