The trans costs like a billion dollars to replace if something goes wrong.

Why are you asking this question? I don't understand how you wouldn't know that the car must be towed on flatbed EVERY SINGLE TIME.

AYC/AWD should never ever in a million years be towed like your normal car. If you didn't know this what makes you think the tow truck driver does?

All right so the deed is done!
I took off the front bumper cover, cause the US models dont have a front tow hook, and strapped the bumper reinforcement to a truck. Max speed was around 25 mph.
I flat towed the X around 1.5 miles with all four wheels on the ground.
No problems so far and no warnings from the dash. Looks like it is possible to flat tow, just got to be careful when doing it.

I don't know why you'd even risk 5k+ in repairs over an extra 100 to put it on a flat bed.

That would be the million dollar question.

Flat towing a GSR wouldn't bother me. I would not flat tow an MR, too much fancy voodoo going on in the trans, god forbid one of the clutches is dragging or a gear is partially engaged because nothing is powered up inside the trans and you ruin it.

My concern on either of them would be the ayc pump for the rear differential, which would not be working without the car running. There's a reason why they tell you not to flat tow it.

AYC and ACD doesn't worry me. Those clutches are held open by springs, so no worries there. Its the same as driving the car with a bad ACD pump that isn't working, it doesn't hurt anything.

^^ never

Cause while I agree it's not good practice. Doing it for 1.5 miles almost positively certainly didn't do any harm or cause any damage. Especially if the car was on while doing it like he said it would be!

I don't think he had the car on while towing, I think that another member that said the car should be on.

Yea I would think if the car was on and running that he prolly wouldn't have needed to tow it.. but o well I guess hopefully it all works out.
