Long story short, I bought a new Mitsu OEM MAF (MR985187) off ebay to see if it improves my idle.

With the new MAF the car starts, runs for a second, then shuts off and throws a CEL.

It immediately starts and runs if I swap the original maf back in.

Now I could just send it back but it was a brand new, sealed part with Mitsu logo on the packaging. I find it unlikely that I got a bad part.

Are there possobly different versions of MAF with same part number? Or maybe there is a specific learning / mating procedure that I missed?

Would appreciate any help!

 

A MAF can break if it was mishandled during shipping. What code comes up with the new MAF that seems to not work?


I am not aware of any different versions of the MAF.

 

Well hell, I guess these things do happen.

I bought a reman MAF from Advance Auto on my way from work today and installed it. Car fired right up. The new part is defective and going back, lol .
