Really cool idea! My vid cam is just way too big to fit back there, I already tried the same type thing. Maybe need to invest in an "In car" camera haha.

I'm sure no one here would, but it has to be said, that even though the child restraint hook is still accessible as shown, I would recommend not utilizing it to secure a child seat as it may not provide the full level of security while attached in this manner.

On a side note, an alternative design would be to use a 1" washer or so (with a proper sized hole for the bolt) in the place of the child restraint clip. It may provide a slightly cleaner appearance.

I had all the items needed in my garage with the exception of a huge washer. I didnt feel like driving to a hardware store to get a 5 cent washer.

Here is how mine came out. A slight variation on the original design and the difference being mine isn't a X (it's an VIII) but it's the same concept.

Parts I used.

Assembled.

Installed. I ended up attaching the camera mount to the bracket with the tilt control handle pointing forward because it wouldn't clear the 3rd brake light behind it.

I just tried it out and it works ok except for the fact that the video is very very shaky for every little bump I hit. Any suggections? I need to stabalize it more or figure out how to absorb some of the shock that is going straight from the chassis right into the camera.
