Defi Link Unit Wiring Help

Can anyone help to provide wiring instructions for the Link Unit II? It was much simpler on the IX by tapping into the radio harness.

I want to use the cigaretter lighter but for the X it only has green and black wires. I have Black, Red, Orange, White.

Since the White is Ilum - Tap to Green
Black is Ground - Tap to Black
Red - ?
Orange - ?

THanks. Hope i can get this done this weekend...

Red= 12v power
Orange= 12v ignition only has power when ignition is on
White= 12v illumnation
Black= Ground

Now I have a question for you it says up to 7 gauges.... i want boost, oil temp, oil pressure, water temp, and maybe EGT.. can I hook these guages together on the same control unit? they will all be 2 3/8 Defi link BF white.

I knew what the wired were for but could not find the appropriate wires in the Cigarette ligther to tap.

In the X, there is only a green and black.

I actually just finished installing the gauge using the HowTo below but now my link unit is always on!! Even when the key is out! Anyone knows why??

As for your question, yes. All your gauges will be chained to one link unit. And all you have to do is power the link unit and install sensors in the appropriate sources.

lol sorry my bad!!.. and thanks for answering my question!! my only guess is the wire you tapped into has voltage all the time... double check your wiring must of tapped into a constant voltage source instead of a switched 12volt one...

Thanks dude!!

Is this bad? To have the link on all the time. I dont really mind it coz the gauge does turn off when I turn off the car.

I've been running this for almost 3 weeks now. The control unit is on all the time but does not seem to be draining the battery. Or at least I hope not!!

Anyone know which fuse to use as a Switched 12 volt for poweR?

Thanks

well, figured it out. the red, black, and orange wires go as described in the other thread. I connected the white wire to the green wire in the harness that goes to the ASC button. All works as should now
