HOW TO: Make a Custom Heat Shield (SRI)

Alright, after doing some research I came to a conclusion that AMS Heat Shield will not work for every short ram intake or cone filter that people will put on their cars.

I did a bit of research for the people that want to run short ram intakes for various reason (i.e. daily driver, drives in winter, harsh conditions, etc...). Currently AMS ($50) makes a heat shield and Buschur Racing ($180) makes a carbon fiber filter shield. There is also Agency Power ($300) that makes a heat-shield that is only sold with their kit.

Well after some research I came up with this idea.

Spectre Makes Some Intake Shield

I am sure anyone can implement these to their filter for a cheap way to make a heat shield for their short ram intake.

SUMMIT RACING

Search: (SHORT CONE)SPE-8130

or (TALL CONE)SPE-9730
http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...&DDS=1&N=700+0

Then you can go ahead and paint it black, silver, etc... I know it will work for the majority of the intakes out there.

Now for the interesting news. I will be working with my custom fabricator that makes parts for my race car and works with sheet metal mostly. I will speak to him about making a heatshield or possibly a entire intake box.

No word on pricing. With any of these parts or how they will look. However, the pricing would be as low as possible to make these reasonable to sell to the community.

UPDATE:

Short Version Pre-Fabrication (needed for COBB SFI Intake)

P.S. I will be trying the short intake shield on the COBB SF intake this week. I'll post pics of the setup. Should work like any other intake shield.

UPDATE: I got the heatshield a while back. It looks great. However, for the COBB SF Intake in order for the heatshield to work you needed to do some trimming with a DREMEL. It took about 10 minutes of work to modify it. However, it looks and works great.

PICS WILL BE UP SHORTLY

Sorry for the semi-jacking of this thread!!
My original thread for my diy is here:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...sf-intake.html

I think the easiest way would be for me to make some paper templates and mail em to you. I could make them about 1/4" larger than mine so you could have some wiggle room to trim to your liking.
Received a few requests already so gonna take the shields off this weekend and make some templates to mail out. PM me for details

Thanks!

Total cost is like $33 for a heat shield that needs minimal modification and works well or just as well as anything out there.
