Fuel system!

How do you know if your fuel pump is out or going out? And how do check it? Or your reply or fuse? Because I think mine is going out but I wanna make sure before I buy a new one

Mine was really loud at a point cuz I had really high fuel pressure and it would take forever to crank and start and then it'll start and idle really rough and then it'll die and I would have to do it couple of time till the car just stays on and then turn down to fuel pressure to spec and never heard the whine nomore but I couldn't finish my tune cuz it would be really really lean at boost so we're guessing it's the fuel pump but I just wanna make sure it's that
