Car hasn't had a motor since December so I don't know yet I'll most likely have to raise the car up a bit until I get some widebody goodness

What's the deal with these super wide tires? 10.5w wheel doesn't need a 295 lol why ask the question? I'm just curious, with that setup you're not gaining thing across any track or roll race. I know I'm in the aggressive setup section, my question is this is just a matter of taste right?

Actually, 295's are the suggested tire for a 10.5" wheel.

Why wouldn't you gain traction with a wider tire? That doesn't make any sense. There are some nationally competitive autocrossers that run 315's on their Evo.

Depends on the manufacturer of the tire. I'M also willing to bet these guys are 100% street cars with 0 track days.. Just stirring the pot lol. Wasn't dissing the look, just presenting the question!

After I started running my 285s after the stock setup, I immediately felt the change in a lot of the vehicles dynamics. My tires don't loose traction in high speed turns. There's a nice 90 degree bend by my house that I used to slide around if I took it@60 ish, now I still haven't taken it fast enough to make my tires squeal. And I do 1/2 mile rolling drags and autocross.

I'm also not a big fan of tire stretch. Only on slammed widebodys, not on any functional height car.

I recently bought new tires for my stock wheels. They are 255/40/18. My question is I want to get 18x10 wheels and wondering if the 40 series will give me issues with rubbing? Will the 10 width stretch the tires?

Think this guy should stay away from every thing that spins and is shiny.

Hmm. First: stock wheel is 18. You said, "I recently bought new tires for my stock wheels. They are 255/40/19." 19 will not fit an 18" wheel.

Second: size is 18X8.5. You said, "My question is I want to get 8x10 wheels and wondering if the 40 series will give me issues with rubbing? Will the 10 width stretch the tires?" No way a 8" wheel will fit on a Evo, son. And you wouldn't have to bother about stretching because the wheel wouldn't be tall enough to reach from the bottom of the inside of the tire to the top. It would be 10" too short.

Maybe you aren't familiar with your car and should do some research. But if you just threw those numbers out there, not consulting your owner's manual or looking at the tires, then you should trade the car in for a donkey. You couldn't **** that up. Then again, I guess you could by feeding it the wrong whatever a donkey eats.
But on a helpful note, and assuming that you are not dyslexic, maybe you typed in the wrong numbers?
