is there really that much to be shed? isnt it just a little bit of carpet and some styrofoam blocks. i guess the spare would be a decent bit of weight tho. do it and let us know how much u save.

You could take out the tire and tools, but leave the carpeting. It would only be a few pounds at most, which wouldn't make a difference on a car that weighs more than 3,500 lbs.

yeah itd make a minimal difference its 1 hp per 12 pounds basically so if you ditch like all your back seats spare you could maybe maybe maybe feel a little more pull...thats what i do but then again i drive a 2800 lb rsx-s

I took out my spare and tools, Im going to have to go buy some styrofoam or something to fill the space where the wheel went though. My carpet keeps sagging in the middle, and I cant put anything in there anymore.

I put my midget blowup doll in there and it stopped the carpet from sagging plus she's there when I get lonely.

I took out everything. You lose weight and you get a MUCH bigger trunk.

not trying to be an ***, but do you mean that for every 12lbs dropped, there is a 1hp gain? losing weight will make you faster, but it doesn't give you power

No, he doesn't mean you gain HP. He means losing 10-12lbs is LIKE gaining 1 HP.

No, he means the weight/HP ratio is 12:1.

It takes minimal time to rip everything out (including rear seatbelts/seats), so if you got a track day and enjoy working on your car, do it.

I weighed everything, wrote it down somewhere, if i find it i'll post it up.

IMO...I would probably only strip it for a track day. On a daily, it's more trouble then it's worth for the weight savings. If you're desperate to reduce weight, strip all the rear door panels and rear seats while your at it.
