Custom shift boot

So, my wife gets a nice new sewing machine. Out of my wife's mouth comes ideas of blankets, curtains, pillows, blah blah. What's the first thing I think of? Shift boot and arm rest cover!

One of the small issues I have with the GSR is the shift boot. I don't know, it could be just me, but it just feels and looks cheap - almost plastic like. At the same time, I'm not a huge fan of exposed stitching (although white stitching would match the steering wheel) and I like the clean look of the stock boot. So, I bought some nice leather and pretty much duplicated the stock design. It's not a huge mod, and some evo X owners might not even notice the change if they aren't looking for it, but I like the way the leather lays and feels vs. the stock shift boot.

Just thought I'd share... figured others might share the same opinion!

Cell phone pics! Sorry

Looks good! I'm interested in seeing how your arm rest cover comes out.

Thanks for the compliments! I'm making another boot for a friend tonight, so it will be the weekend before I have time to figure out the arm rest. I'm still debating on whether I want to use the same leather or just a heavier suede/cloth than the stock one.

if i was going to change the boot, it will have to be noticeably different...otherwise, i just don't feel that it's worth the effort.

and you're right - even for x owners if they aren't looking for it, they would never notice.

That's very nice. I really like the tasteful approach.

So, I don't think I'll be tackling the arm rest. I found a suede cleaner that makes my stock one look brand new!

Since I have un-used leather, anybody interested in a shift boot like mine?! Haha
