This car absolutely kills it in the snow just get a real deal skid plate. Im sure we get similar amounts of snow since we both live in WNY and I have plenty of gnarly stories. If you have good tires and even if it is lowered you can still drive it on most snowmobile trails. Thats all I did last winter in the falls.

Haha! Snowmobile trails!!! I'm not sure what's planned for winter just yet. I remember my 99 gsx was slammed... Used to have snow bouncing up on the hood of the car. That thing was a beast. AWD FTW.
I didn't get the x in deep snow this past spring though. I have family up north in the arirondacks near Malone... We get some snow there!

Shawna, I agree completely on your thought's on the X vs. the VIII, and most who have owned both such as myself would also. The X is a nicer car overall, period, would I like a 4g63 and an actual real transmission that shifts like butter, doesnt clunk and doesnt haunt me from my previous experiences with mitsu 5spd's.. yes. But overall when I get into my X it just feels more refined.. is that against Evo rules? Perhaps. But I dont miss my 8 on most days, and I dont miss its moans and groans either.. I respect the 8, and would like to have one as a track car one day, or perhaps another X that I can strip and make unpractical for double duty. Judging from your brake changes I'd assume this will be drag oriented, I have to say the 8/9 has a significant advantage for this purpose, but I think with some TLC the X will suit you well. I am going for track days and auto x while hoping to pick up some power.. look forward to seeing your build progress.

For now we are only test fitting the brakes. It will be a little while before I'm running them on the street. If we decide to try out road racing... They are just brakes. They come off.
But you are right on the dilemma. It's a nicer car. It just does not have the easy opportunities to make gobs of power like the older evos. It's a different world. And I'm living in it.
