STM's Number Ten (2011 WW SSL)
#128
Megan Racing Track Series.
We swapped on the factory Yokohama Advans in place of the Continentals since most of the snow is gone now and swapped in the TPMS sensors. So that light is no longer flashing in our faces!
Emery was, at first, thinking of some seriously expensive coilovers, but in the grand scheme of things, we needs to test and be able to recommend parts to customers, and $3,000+ coilovers just aren't going to be the most popular seller in this area.
The Megan Track Series save 2.3 pounds per rear corner, and 8 pounds per front over the stock suspension.
20.6 total weight savings.
More info here: STM
The car as it sits now weighs in at 3553 pounds.
So far the ride is comparable to stock... until you hit a good bump, then it's a bit more aggressive. I'm still getting a small amount of rub when the wheel is cranked too far, but it's just grazing the inner plastics. I asked for it to be as slammed as safely possible. The fenders are not rubbing though, which is good!
If all goes well, I'll get some nice shots this week!

It's interesting to me that you have the STM X on Megan Track Coilovers. Why did you all choose these?
I am asking because I've been doing a good bit of suspension research for my CT9A and have been looking at various options. I looked into the Megan coilovers (couple different models available) and many people on the forums said they were not good at all and would not recommend them.
Is there a quality difference between the CT9A Megan coilovers vs. the CZ4A Megan coilovers?
Also...not to completely put you on the spot but does STM recommend these since they are on the car?
Thanks!

Emery chose these because most people cannot afford $4000 coilovers, so we wanted to test them out... and I believe they are still in the "test" phase. I'll let him chime in on his views on them.
They ride a little rough over bumps. If I'm the only one in the car, nothing hits or rubs, but if there are more people, it'll definitely rub the rear. They make some noise now and then, boing and whoop. I never heard those noises before on the Megan Street coils on the VIII, or with the D2's on the VIII. I've never driven on these Track Series on any other car to compare.
They are affordable and got the stance right. I just drive the car, the final decision will lie with Emery.
