Xpel Ultimate Clear Bra INSTALLED
Just got the Xpel Ultimate Clear Bra installed by Prestige Auto Armor (Pittsburgh PA). I got the whole hood, front bumper and front fenders covered. It wasn't cheap, but overall I'm pleased with the install.
The kit came with side mirror films, but they won't stick to the chrome side mirrors. They're sitting at home waiting until I can post in the classified to see if there are any takers (for free
).

My installer said that he used to sell 3M films. It's a much stiffer film so it'll be easier to get creases and premature adhesion marks during the install. The clear coat on top of the 3M film is not the same grade the Xpel has (which is an automotive grade clear coat).
The 3M film is not self healing (like shown in the video). It's not really self healing, I think the Xpel film is more elastic. So it will return to its original state after a certain amount of deformation.
With the ultimate, we can pretty much use any wax (clear bras hate many types of wax with certain additives).
I'll post more thoughts as time goes.

No offense, but that is NOT a good job. I deal with a high end detaielr/paint correction shop here and you NEVER EVER leave exposed paint like shown in the pics. The film should ALWAYS be wrapped under the panels, never cut short like that. Kit or no kit, that is not a good job and for the money you spent you should have higher expectations.

@wicked_White... no offense taken. I talked to the installer. He said, the program he used to cut the film has the option to cut the film with wrapping edges. He doesn't like the option because a lot of his customers with that option complained about the film popping back out from underneath (it can be from his workmanship, I don't know).
If I think about it, wrapping a film on that edge will give the film extra stress risers so as the film expands and contracts it will become a problematic area. That's just a theory to explain his customers' problems. Maybe I'm just off altogether

I have had great results with 3M on a G35, Civic Si and my son's 2011 Evo GSR. Never had any yellowing. I do like the elasticity that the Xpel seems to have. I have never heard of this before now. I have a a 2011 Evo X GSR that has not yet had the clearbra applied, so I think I will look into it. Thanks for the pics!
