What does it mean when people mention, " +20 offset."

Here are a few pictures to give you the best idea you can get for those who have questions.

1. YES you can use stock 18" tires on a 9.75" wheel. Honestly guys, you can put almost any width tire you want on a wheel - whether you are ok with super-stretch or super-bubble is up to you.

2. Each tire manufacturer is (actually quite significantly) different as far as firewall angle and actual tread width goes. For instance, Falken FK452's have a very aggressive angle and the tread width is a lot more narrow than the same size Nitto NT555, yet both are rated the same size. This is because the 245 (or whatever the size is) in 245/35/18 is measured where the tire meets the wheel, not the width of the "pavement touching" tread.

3. For most concave wheels, the safe bet is a minimum of 9.5" and an offset of no more than +20 and you are safe to assume you will not need spacers.

4. Anyone that bashes "cheap" wheels is just bad an managing money. I just bought a turbo, injectors, fuel pump, and full ETS IC kit for what those guys paid for their used Volks. Not bashing high-end wheels, just won't ever see the logic behind spending 5-6 times more for something that doesn't get you any noticeable gains unless you are professionally racing your car. Yes, before XXR, cheap wheels weighed a sh*t-ton, but XXR answered that stigma with a solid F-U to the big boys. I had the wheel shop I got these from weigh them before putting them on - 21.1lbs each. For a daily driver, that is perfect. To get any lighter I would have had to go with something 2-3 times more expensive and not near as sexy.

Here are some pics of my ride through it's evolution (total pun intended) over the last year.

The day I brought her home

A few weeks later when I had H&R springs installed

A month later on Chromium Black XXR 527 18x9.75 +20 with the stock tires

A while later with KW V3's set at various heights with 245/40/18 Falken FK452's

I need help getting tuner lugs for the 527s. Most of the lugs are 25mm wide and won't fit. Any suggestions? I need open ended lugs.
