It was a big problem with the CT9A, the Rally Red would oxidize and looked faded fast. You'd have to buff it out to get rid of it. Happened on my VIII, and a few others that I knew.

Is it happening on the Xs?

 

over 110k miles now with no signs of oxidation.

 

It happened to the 8 & 9's because it was single stage paint. The clear was mixed into the base. The X has base+clear so no it should not happen to the X's.

 

Interesting. Never knew about the differences in mixing of the paints. My wife is trying to get a wicked white MR touring, if she can't find one, rally red is her next choice.

 

I have a OB 10 and the paint still is in great shape.

As long as you keep it waxed you will be fine. I have an 04 Phoenix Red Ralliart (Same as Rally Red) and it still looks brand new. I wax it every couple of months though. Occasionally the side mirrors will begin to oxidize slightly but some polish and wax brings them right back.

 

mine is fine but only 11k miles
