for street tires, i would have to say the Z1 Star Spec, like others have said, these are the tires to beat! I've seen a video comparing the R1R, the new RE11 (replacing the RE01R) and the Advan Neova AD07 and the star spec was the fastest followed by the RE11 which isn't even out yet, not only that but the Star Spec handle heat alot better and come up to temp quicker, i.e. they get to operating temp (highest grip) quicker and they grip longer (dont get greasy like other tires, R1R's get greasy) the best thing about them is they are CHEAP compared to the other tires

oh and btw, i'm on star specs and i'm running faster then guys on R comps in our SCCA region

Yokohama AO 48 are the best road legal tyres you can buy. They last 20,000km of daily driving, but they are noise. I've had two sets and wouldn't buy anything else.

Nitto NT01 at 100 treadwear is very very sticky and way less than $300 a tire at 275/35-18 size.

PS2's don't turn in that well. I had them on my '04 GT3 and ended up getting rid of them in a hurry and got P Zero Corsa's and couldn't be happier.

The new, to be released, Yoko Neovo AD08 is claimed to be the best performance tire:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/se...-tested-3.html
That said, it is unclear what the pricing will be; probably around but greater than the AD07 ($312/tire) which will put them out of the OP criteria of <$300. Now I am not a tire engineer but the wet traction on these tires will be wanting based upon my impressions of the tread design. In short, this tire will be excellent for dry but not as good under wet conditions compared to the Star Specs; Black Track recommends the NT05 but he, I believe, has not tried the AD08.

Later, Ken

The AD08 is very fast...

The NT05 is comparable to an AD07, but will hold up better on track.
