You would have to have a full size spare for that to work. The light comes on when the PSI is somewhere in the 20`s, how much does the space saver hold in terms of psi?

I read somewhere that the tpms in the evo x's also reads rotations. So putting them in the spare would be useless.

if it also reads rotation how come the light doesn't come on when you are at a stop or when you first crank the car? just curious.

Oh yea, duuuh, the sensors are powered by kinetic energy. The wheel needs to rotate

i don't understand this, and i apologize if you are kidding. but this would still mean that the light would come on at a stop light or when you cranked the car in the morning after being parked all nite since there would be no rotational force on the sensors.

There is stored energy in the sensors, and when the sensors transmit RF, it gets recharged through kinetic energy. And I think the computer waits a little bit before turning on the TPMS light, because it took around 10 miles for me to get the TPMS light when I put my wheels and tires.

The fact is that the TPMS needs to be put on the actual wheels. I've tried many tricks, and have failed. The spare tire trick worked on my Nissan 350z which uses battery type TPMS, Mitubishi uses battery less TPMS.

Also, I dont think the car reads the sensors below 30mph or so. Thats why they dont come on when your parked, and turning on. They need a certain amount of rotation to power them, and the computer goes by that.
