Unhappy 235/45/18 rubbing slightly on front sides

I just installed winter tires on stock rims. They are Dunlop M3 sport 235/45/18 and rub slightly when full steering is applied left or right. Its that plastic under the fender with holes in the front. can i cut it or something? I also think i can just go with it since its only for winters?

EDIT: I misread your post. If you are using stock wheels then the profile of the tire is just too tall.

Hmm, maybe the tire is too tall? I assume he used the stock wheels for the winter like I did. I went with OEM size all seasons 245/40R18 and no problems at all here.

i have the same tires but they are the stock size (245/40/18) and have no rubbing. Do you have a pic (sorry, I can't quite visualize what you are talking about)?

its not 5mm, its 5% extra of the width of the tire.

98mm stock vs 105.75mm, so that's almost 8mm taller than stock, this is why you are rubbing

I just put on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires yesterday, size 245/40ZR18, and I am having the exact same problem... when the wheels are cut all the way they rub quite severely against the inside of the front wheel wells. These are the tires that were recommended to me by the guys at the tire shop for use on the Evo, and come up as tires that are compatible on TireRack's website.

As I said in another thread, I've owned this car for two weeks already and have already had to sink way too much money into it, even when compared to my old Evo VIII.... I really regret my purchase and just wish I could take it back to Mitsubishi and tell them to ****ing keep it.

Hmm, I just swapped my winter tires (Blizzak LM-25) 245/40/18's to my stock rims and have no rubbing issues running stock height. Are you running them on the stock rims also?

I am. Only thing that's been changed is the rubber.

5000 miles of normal driving and you have clutch issues? That's insane. On our VIIIs (we had two), we got 80,000 miles on one clutch and then only replaced it because the gearbox was out (syncro problem with 2nd gear, covered under 100,000 warranty). The other Evo was mine, and 49,000 miles were on that one before I sold the car, and I never had a single clutch issue. God, I hope my X isn't like that.
