You do know that narrower tires are better in winter conditions right? I went with 235s in the winter and 255s in the summer on the Evo. Until I had all-seasons, and those were 245s.

If you don't believe me, you're welcome to come drive my car when we've had a few good solid inches of snow, assuming I get your Evo's title as collateral... The 225s in front dig into the snow with ease, but when there's enough snow, the 265s get pulled on top, even though they are snow tires, they're still wide enough that they get pushed to the surface. Just like a snowboard I wish I could've downsized them to 245s for the winter...

well i would vote w.drive just because that is the only tire i have used on the evo as a winter tire.. only had them for about a month or so and we had some warm days in chicago so far and they are great on those days and awesome in the snow that we have also had. not to mention very quite and handle very very well.

they have gotten a good writeup in candiancaranddriver too.

For those wanting a compromise snow/dry performance, what about Goodrich KDWS? I think dry they would outperform anything mentioned by a large margin. Dunno how much you'd give up on snow or ice. Maybe a lot.

I'm going with the Yokohama W.Drive's. It was either them or the Dunlop's and the only tire store I trust with my car didn't have the Dunlop's, I think they are comparable to each other anyways

I just got the Dunlop Winter Sport 3Ds in 235/40ZR18. First snow experience I'll write up a review.

a friend of mine, who used to own an evo ix, told me hands down dunlop SP winter sport 3d's, and do not even try driving in the snow/cold with the stock advans.

i found out lest night how horrible the advans are in the snow/cold. man was that scary. i am getting the dunlops asap. i'm sure i will not be disappointed

Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 - this is a performance winter tire. These are the tires used on Porches, BMW, Mercedes....in Europe they are very popular. I am sure the Blizzaks and Dunlops are good winter tires, but if you want performance, this is it.

- Great in the wet, great in the snow, and pretty darn good in dry
- no road noise
- does not make your Evo drive like a truck like the others tires do

Why put anything other than performance tires on an Evo?

first off, think about getting narrower tire so say 235-40-18 and then check out the Michelin ALpin P2, very good tires (on par or better than the Dunlop M3)
