Nyc winter

the stock yokos are NOT designed to be used in snow, or operated at freezing temperatures.
unless you're running on all seasons already, the answer is yes.
now whether or not it will be worth it for you depends on how often you drive/need to drive your car really.

I would get a set of Snows for the winter and then keep the stockers for the summer. Too many nice roads to use a really good summer/three season tire to really make the A/S worth it. I would go for the Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds... I had them on my NYC beater (Focus ST), and they were really good in the entire NY winter... But I wouldn't want to make any compromises during the nice warm spring, summer, and fall time when you can go shred all the good roads around the area.

are you serious? did it not snow yesterday??
buying a set of summer tires, and a set of winter tires, will last u longer than buying 2 sets of all season tires IMO! plus, it will be SAFER and MORE FUN

I would definitely get a winter setup if this is your daily driver. All Seasons should be more than adequate however it doesn't hurt to go with a dedicated snow tire. The stock rubber in that type of weather is a serious accident waiting to happen.

The only thing holding me back from getting snow tires is the price($200 a piece for blizzacks). If I get snow tires I would need an extra set of rims(even cheap rims go for around $400 a set) which will cost more $$$. And since the stock summer tires wear pretty fast from what I hear, I would needs to get another set of summer tires after 2 years or so...putting me back another $500 or so.
I was really thinking about getting the bridgestone RE960AS PP, they are ranked #1 on tire rack for ultra high performance AS...yea they go for $200 a piece but they are ranked really high in tread wear lasting around 40K miles...and with these AS tires which according to the reviews perform pretty damn good on dry roads I can sell my stock Advans for around 400-500...so this is the cheapest route.
I was just wondering if getting winter tires are a absolute necessity. O and I really only drive my car on weekends...
