Volk RE30 and Bridgestone RE-11 on Edmunds project car
For those interested in how the new Bridgestone RE-11 fares, you might want to follow this project (Edmunds.com project Evo X).
It now has 18x9.5 +35 Volk RE30 and 265/35 Bridgestone RE-11.
More pics and info here: linky poo

WTF? 35mm offset? They needed wheel spacers to clear? Geez, should have gone with the 22 offset and 275 tires.
So now they have some funky fitting wheels and tires that have a smaller diameter than stock...

I retract my statement about them understanding how offsets work, I read one of the posts and assumed it was Edmunds, it wasn't.

More from Edmunds blog:
"Yes, the spacers effectively make our offset smaller by the amount of their thickness (3mm). These wheels are 35mm offset, so we have:
35 - 3 = 32mm offset currently.
32mm is much closer to the stock 38mm than the typical Evo fitment of 22mm offset wheels. It was important to me to stay as close to stock offset as possible since we've added a LOT more torque.
Yes, the spacers are not ideal. I'm trying to work on a more elegant solution than the cast spacers + plastic hug ring arrangement we have now.
subytrojan, sorry, no tire weights. Weighing our worn-out stock tires wouldn't be representative of a new stock tire anyway."

That type of recessed wheel design requires a less than stock offset right off the bat. I wouldn't feel comfortable on those spacers either. The weight of the car is now beeing carried by the wheel studs.

This is a typical problem with a large lipped wheel; little caliper clearance to a BBK. Other spoke/lip style 35mm offset wheels in 9.5" width have no problem, but this wheel does, and I might say it is a very nice looking wheel.
Effective difference between stock wheel is:
35mm ET = +16mm to outside / +10mm to inside
32mm ET = +19mm to outside / +7mm to inside
With the spacer, the track moves +6mm to the outside.
