Looking for a new set of coilovers ... Any suggestions?

Hey Guys,

I currently have a set of BC Racing BR series coilovers (8kg/6kg). These coilovers are great for the street, but I plan on going to the track more often. I'm look for a nice set of coilovers ... something below $2,000.

I'm thinking of 12kg/10kg spring rates ... the coilovers im thinking of getting are Tein Mono Flex, Stance AL+, or the BC Racing ER Series (leaning towards these because they are double adjustable).

Any thoughts?

Thanks

What's your driving style? That will dictate the type of coilovers you should buy for the track.

Seems like he is looking for track coilovers so my suggestion for coilovers would only be fore DD and light tracking.

I like a firm suspension, with slight oversteer. Want the suspension to have a lot of stroke. I'm a pretty smooth driver. Don't like to chuck the car around a lot.

oversteer can be achieved by having a stiffer rear sway bar.

I'm Planning to go with a Megan Racing Coil-over setup. My reasons are Price and Ease of use with there dampener extensions. makes it a lot easier to adjust. Or just go with Tien and get there electronic dampener controller.

I curretly have Hotchkis sway bars on. Just added that, cuz he wanted to know my driving style.

None of those coilovers you mention are that good...

ER Series is your best bet for the budget brands, but you won't get a lot of stroke out of them or any of the asian coilovers.

I'd recommend spending a little bit more for some prepped KWs

Robi spec KW3 are really good track coilovers and they can be pretty stiff if you want them to be.

I was thinking about the Robispec KW V3. I know these are the best coilovers I could get without spending a ton of cash. I just want to know if there is a good alternative.

Why would you want a higher spring rate in the front, especially if oversteer is your intended goal?

I do have the 32mm swaybars, so that would help me with the slight oversteer that I like. For the purpose of tracking it, I would like a stiffer set up.

Not to hijack but I'm going with an ASt monotube 5100 setup. Anyone else running these?

^ We've got a lot of experience with AST....great dampers with huge range on the valving....it's not 32 clicks where all 32 clicks are almost the same and all 32 clicks suck like many coilovers. The AST's are great. You're well over 3 grand though when it's all said and done.

KW's are a good set-up for the track. Ohlins DFV Sportline are great as well. The new Eibach 2 ways look great...standard rates are softer but we can do custom rates.

And 12k/10k is not the right way to do things on an EVO....be skeptical of any company that pushes those rates.
