Anyone running the Nitto NT-555? I just got a pretty decent quote from a local shop to get them installed. I was looking at the Hankook Ventus V12, but it looks liek the Nitto NT-05 is a more popular tire, so that's why I"m looking at the NT-555. Seems like the NT-555 has a better wear rating, better ride, and not quite the dry performance that the NT-05 has. I'm a spirited driver, but I do not track the car My latest set of stock advans gave me exactly 6500 miles before becoming bald. I need better tread wear than I need sticky performance.

Anyone have any problems with the NT-555?

Ive had mine for about a year (255-35R18). I run them on 18 x 9 rota svn. I like alot, they have much better dry grip and wet handling characteristics than the previous 2 tires that Ive ran. Before these i had Kumho Ecsta STP and the Falken Azenis RT615. So far the are my favorites. The wear has also been good. The NT-555 has a 300 tread wear rating (Falken-240 and Kumho-340) and have held up better than the others; and preformed better.

Excellent to know. I think that's what I'm going to go for. I was going to get the Kunmo Ventus V12, but even the guy at the shop said the Nittos have a better edge construction and will hold up better in the cornering, than the kuhmos.

The 555 is an older design... and typically aren't that well regarded by most performance drivers.

I just ordered some of these in 255/40/17...I should be receiving them tomorrow...I wanted something with a 300 tread wear rating...Something that grips decent at the track (1/4 mile) & can still be decent taking turns on the street...these tires will never see an autox event or a road course...I have kumho v710s for that...

I'm more concerned about daily drivers than performance drivers, when it comes to these tires. I wouldn't imagine they'd be all that great for serious performance, even though I know they'll probably hold their own.

Nitto still lists that tire as a current design.

Well, I got these thrown on at lunch time today, and though I've only driven about a mile, the ride is a tad softer than the advans. I like that. We'll see how good the grip is.

i dont like them at all.
I used them , there is very limited grip and so on so forth.

Try look up something else for the same price or spend a little more, you will not regret it.

Holy crap, these tires are far better than I expected. Now, granted I'm just doing normal daily driving, but I didn't expect them to have as much grip as they do. Who knows what would happen once they get hot (like on a track) but even on the drive to work this morning (35 degrees out) the tires stuck better in the cooler weather than the advans did. They have a much softer and quieter ride, and the turn-in just feels smoother than the advans.

I could have spent more, but this was the best bang for the buck. So far, great purchase.

I had a set and I had no problems with them they handled good for DD. I used them when i didnt have my performance rims on. I think you will like them for DD and road trips if you take one on a set of these tires. I drove from Chicago to Texas and it was a smooth ride and not much road noise. They were 235/45/17 that I was using.

Comparing them in cold pavement with full tread versus the stock Advan at low tread could also mask the cold weather grip a bit. As the tires wear down they become less forgiving on cold pavement although on hotter pavement they handle more precisely due to less tread squirm.

I just picked mine up I picked mine up for 800 w/ road hazard protection from a buddy of mine that works at just tires. They are 275/35/18. I love these tires I had them on my old car and didn't regret getting these. They grip well, but like everyone said they don't do so well in cold weather, but I don't drive my car in the winter so it doesn't really matter to me.

For the price and purpose of tire - DD - the NT555 is an excellent choice as a replacement for the OE Yoko's.

The NT555s are nowhere near the level of the advans. Now if you want to cut off the last part of that sentence and say they're a great choice for daily driving, then we're in agreement
