Tires/Rims/Springs installed RUBBING!

I just installed a set of swift springs with 255/35/19 yokohama advan neova tires. I didn't think I'd encounter any rubbing on this set up but I am. It rubs when turning the wheel too far either way and also when going over even the tiniest of bumps.

What's the next step? Will fender rolling fix this completely? Should I take the swift springs off and go back to stock?

Roll your fenders and possibly run a little more negative camber.

Is it rubbing in the front or the rear?

For the front...

http://www.evo___xforums.com/forums/...ad.php?t=12571

take out the underscores ( ___ ) there is a how to in the link.

For the rear, you need more negative camber and possibly roll the rears and pull them. The Advans run really wide.

Here is my car on 18x10 +15 & 275/35/18.

This is what a rolled + pulled rear fender looks like.

Sounds like you will need to roll the rear fenders and modify the front fender liner. What are the specs on the wheels?

The wheels are Rays G-Games 19x9.5 +22.

Tires are 255/35/r19 Yokohama Advan Neovas.

Yeah a wheel that is 9.5" wide with a +22 offset will likely rub when lowered. That width/offset is equivalent to a 30mm spacer on the stock wheels. I ended up selling my wheels with similar specs but I wish I had just rolled my fenders. That would be my recommendation.

I suggest jack up the car first, and see if the tires are rubbing again the fender lip or the fender liner. then do appropriate adjustment.

If there isn't a significant poke or anything, a simple fender roll/slight pull and dialing in a little negative camber should do the job.

noT exactly...not that simple.

a +22 9.5 rim sticks out ~30mm further than stock, the tire does not....at least not the tread width.

Tread center is set by the offset. A +22 9.5 inch wheel centers the tire in the same place as a +22 10.5 inch wheel. The difference is that the sidewalls will be flatter with 9.5 and bowed out more on the 10.5 (also stiffer and harsher ride.)

Adding a 30mm spacer centers the 245 tire at +8 which is 30mm out from stock or would be the equivalent of an outside tread edge of a 305 tire at +38 or a 295 at +28 etc.

For example, there are alot of people here with 265s on 18x10 +25. These rims actually stick out 3mm fruther than 9.5+22 which lets them look more flush while still allowing many to avoid rolling the fenders.

Also neglected is that there is a huge difference in tread width between brands. For example, Advan A08 265s are wider than many other brands 275s.

Some great information here guys. After going through the hassle of finding these rims I am definitely not selling them. I'll just get my fenders rolled.

Admittedly I have no experience in this area. I assume I should be looking for a local body shop to do this?

Not so much a "body shop", but try to find a performance-oriented place, if at all possible. I took mine to a body shop and they just sort of stared at me when I told them my plans; ended up with an appointment as a "slamming" place, ya know, those places that specialize in 300Ms riding on 30" rims and stuff.

It must be because you're riding on 19's. I have 18x9.5 +30, 265/35/18 Falken Ziex, lowered on Eibachs and I barely rub on my front liners. My rears don't rub at all. This is with 15mm spacers up front. I haven't even had an alignment since doing the springs. Turn your front wheels then see where it exactly rubs. Get a heat gun and start moving the liner.

You are correct that the tire size will determine if a setup will rub or not. For instance, my previous wheels were 18x9.5 +20 with 265/35/18 Star Specs. Rubbed like crazy. If I had used the stock tires I could have avoided a lot of the rubbing. So the best way to phrase my previous post would be, a 9.5" +22 wheel will stick out ~30mm more than the stock wheel. The difference in fender clearance will depend on the tire size.

OP: The autocrossers in my area have a place they use to get fenders rolled. You might want to check with your locals.
