Cusco Braces

I love to go fast but love having some sweet handles even better so my question is what does everybody think of the Cusco braces and STB's? I'd like to start out w/ the Cusco RSTB and then the front lower underbrace, a paycheck or two later get F&R sway bars....how much would this tighten up the handling on the X? I already have Tanable springs on stock shocks by the way...

Driver mods are the best way to improve handling and improve times. I don't know you from Adam, but I'd be willing to bet the car is more talented than you are right now.

If that aint the truth...the car just seems like it could use some firming up I guess. Honestly I dont think I've taken this car anywhere near the potential it could take cornerning wise (or even speed wise), I just like the firm cornering feeling I guess

Car has one of the stiffest frame/body. I think you should just track it.

^^^ this.

If you still want to stiffen it, a rear strut tower bar won't do a whole lot for you except at the very edge of the car's limits.

The best bang-for-the-buck are sway bars. A lot of people say and do only the rear, but I say and do both front and rear.

Unless you make a living out of racing, I don't think chasis braces will do anything for you... Seat time will do much more for the money.

If you want braces than go for it. I added quite a few chassis braces to my IX (which is no where as stiff as a stock X chassis) and it made a very noticeable difference, car wandered around a lot less on cloverleafs. Dive into a turn and the car would stay planted.

Cusco Sway Bars are a sure bet. Was just checking them out on the Vivid Racing website. Have some pretty good deals on them right now.

If you have the money braces arent a bad idea. But, if you arent going to track it then really why waste the cash?

Same can be said for power mods. To each their own

True, but power can be used more of the time. Again, you should go drive it the way it is around a track, otherwise you have no base line to compare to. You'd be amazed what the car is capable of.

Baumbizzle,

I can get you the cusco sways, but you should consider the agency power sways. Most of the time your paying for the name. I can do alot better price on agency power as well. Just letting you know when the time comes.

As I installed the Cusco rear sway bar as well as the upper strut tower bar, front lower arm bar and rear member power braces all at the same time, I can't say which of them helped to stiffen up chassis the most, but certainly, even given the extra weight that some will say is a hindrance in this or that regard, I would liken driving an X without these extras to, ahem, renting a new 2011 Buick.

Agreed. I have a trunk cage in my IX that shows stress fractures in its powdercoat. Street, track, or whatever umbrella takes up space...is not the determinate of goodness. It's the nut behind the wheel and his individual priories that outline a given mod path. I'm assuming, of course, that one is modifying the car to suit his driving style as well as a given application. If one is modding for the sake of modding, none of this really matters.

strut bars and lower braces to hold the suspension geometry together is a good idea. going to start try to stiffening a body with fender braces and so on is a waste of money.

Rob

besides the X chasiss is much more rigid then a ct9a, so will do even less for you those chassis braces.
