H&R coilover review

So I got these around a month ago, stock rake is kept. For performance/street coilovers, these run rather low in stock form. My alignment guy wants to put them lower but my wheels are too aggressive without fender mods at the time. It was lowered another inch lower than the swifts.

This was my ride height before the spacers and with springs

Here it is with spacers, alignment and fender pull and roll...

Driving Impression

So the first thing you will notice is that, yes it is actually stiff, and to certain degree, they were more stiff than I have originally anticipated. This kind of stiff is not harsh by any means, it short of feels like a hardcore version of my friend's 335i with sport package, very European sport car like. The next thing I noticed is the amount of steering feedback it provided, taking note I am running 275 tires with -3.6 camber in front with +10 offset. The feedback, I thought, was quiet amazing because of my suspension setup; the sharpness feels almost stock like, but a little heavier and you feel the road better. Driving input for directional change remains more or less the same.

Highway

Highway drives becomes more planted, no longer does the rear float at high speed. This is where it gets interesting, these h&r eats up bumps over 60 mph like nobody's business, I would even argue it soaks up bumper better than the stock bilstein setup and or the with swift springs. In this aspect, the coilovers feels "soft" over bumps, but it stays planted on smooth pavement. It is actually softer at high speed than low speed, I would gas it a little bump to cross rail tracks so it feels less bumpy. I assume these are digressive coilover.

Higher speed cornering

The mid corner rear floatiness is now gone! It soaks up bumps very well and does not disturb the balance of the car into over steer or understeer. Smoother execution overall. Body roll is significantly reduced, the feeling can be describes as, you feel don't feel like being thrown off the chair, but you feel like you are being pressed to the side of the chair.

Noises

I hear nothing out of the norm for now, but maybe that is because I have open dump down pipe with all my engine mount replaced with 90 duro.

Overall, I am happy with them, but I can't make any opinions how they compare to other coilover as I have not driven them. However, if you on springs and you feel they are too soft, the h&r is another good option. Another thing I have put into consideration is the name and warranty of bilstien, for the price, I feel like it suits my need. It is only height adjustable, which is fine by me, since I most likely cannot take full advantage of the added performance even if I had the option.

I will update as I have my seat time.

Your stance looks great! Did you install an RCA kit as well?

Nop, I haven't installed it because I don't think I can take full advantage of this mod. I feel like the H&R coilover are good enough or an improvement for me.

I recommend the RCA kit since you said steering got heavier, it will help with the feeling of tire scrub with your low offset wheels.

Are you gonna get a corner balance done? I'd like to know your before and after impressions of that.

Not against the wheel well but the ground. Tire scrub or scrub radius increase when the center of your contact patch is pushed outside the pivot point when you turn the steering wheel. Instead of spin on the center of the contact patch it makes a sweeping arch.
