255/40/18 on stock wheels

has anyone had this size tires on their evo?

from what I gather on here taller than stock wheels tend to rub on evo's, according to tirerack, the stockers are 25.6 and the 255/40/18 (AD08's) are 25.9 tall. I have GTWorx springs I'm planning to install within the next couple weeks and I'm ok with rolling my fenders, does anybody know if I'll be ok with this tire setup?

No comments may be due to the fact that nobody has run that size.

Some people have run it.

He is running Swift Spec R with 255/40R18 tires. The Swift has the same specs as the GTWORX. No rolling needed.

OK now that we have some one running that size. Why would you run 255/40-28 vs 265/35-18? I am genuinely curious.

255/40 is slightly taller than stock, 265 is slightly shorter. at 265 the concern is width, whichever tire you get you have to make sure it has a stiff sidewall, cause you don't want tire bulge with a soft sidewall

thanks for the heads up on that ZK
but it looks like those hankooks run slighty narrow for their size, where as the AD08's that I want to get run wide. as far as tire bulge goes, those hankooks sit on the wheel about the same as the stock advans do. I'm worried the extra bulge that the 255 ad08's will give me might rub...

here are 2 pics to compare

edit: looks like the first car is yours ZK, are those stock size AD08's?

Exactly my reasoning. I am currently on OEM size Michelin Pilot Super Sports but I'll be switching to AD08 at 255/40/18 with the GTWORX spring and a stiffer rear sway bar before next season. I don't want to replace my stock wheels, so 255 is the widest I can go. Looks like Yokohamas run wider than other brands' tires with the same width rating anyway, so it looks like a sweet deal

They will fit on stock suspension. I had them on my stockers. As soon as i put a coilovers on I was rubbing on the springs up front, you'd need to get like a 5mm spacer.
