Hankook Ventus RS3 Vs Nitto NT05?
I am looking to upgrade to either of these tires, in the size of 265/35/18, I'd appreciate any insight on which tire is best for street use and maybe a few auto-x events this summer. Treadwears not really a main concern, I usually see 8k miles out of 200 treadwear rating tire, and they're down to the cords by 10k...
What is your experiences with these tires, which do you feel provides more grip?
I see the NT05 has a 200 treadwear vs the RS3s 140, will that make a huge difference in terms of wear, just cause I'd like them to atleast last till fall. They're both pretty equally priced tires, so I'm trying to decide here. Thanks guys

The NT05 isn't even in the same class as the RS3s in terms of grip. The RS3 may be the stickest street tire you can buy. The only other two tires that are close are the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 and Yoko Advans AD08s. I have the RE-11s myself and absolutely love them. I think they make a better street tire than the RS3s with better longevity at the sacrifice of max grip.

We used the Yokohama AD08 last year for the One Lap of America event but in testing at Watkins Glen last fall we found that the Hankooks beat out the RE11 and AD08 tires in grip especially after the tires got to full temp. In the carousel turn right after the bus stop we found that 85 mph was the top speed the RE11 or AD08 tires could reach where as the Hankooks could hold the car at 87-88 mph before losing grip, quite a noticeable difference.
I think these tires were another reason we managed a 6th place overall finish this year improving one from last year's 7th place finish despite a much more challenging field of cars and drivers. If you want the stickiest street tire currently available, I find that the Hankook RS3 is the way to go!

i had the nt01 on the car before , i love the performance, but it was a bit over kill for the streets. i ve heard the nt05 are not BAD either.
right now i m using rs3 265 18 35 , although it does not performance aswell as the nt01 , but i think they are perfect for the streets / track. this is my second set of rs3, i get around 8-10k on streets on the last set ( didnt go to the track at all )
i prefer the rs3 ( thats just my opinion , dont mind me)
