Evo X Brake Disc Help

I drive an 08 Evo X and it has the stock brembo brakes. I have a little over 60k on it. I noticed that both rear brake discs have this orange color (rust?) around the edges of the brakes. The centre of the rear brake discs seem to be more scratched up where as the front brake disc look smooth. My front brake discs are fine and there is no discoloration. I tried to rub off the stuff on my rear brakes and it does come off a little.

Should I be worried about this or is this normal? It is odd to me how my front brakes do not have the discoloration. Can I somehow remove this so that they look like my front brake discs? I do not know much about brakes or cars any help would be greatly appreciated.

Photo 1 is my rear brake disc with the orange (rust?) around the outside and inside edges.

Photo 2 is the front brake disk with no discolor

Thanks for reading.

I'd say its time for new rear brake pads, and maybe a rotor if they are scratched deep enough to wear they will make pads wear down uneven. Heres a video about the "rust". Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I just had my brake pads replaced about a week ago. I don't go to the track so I havn't been that hard on the brakes. Do you think it might be the installation of the brake pads since I just had these changed? This has not happened to my front brake discs which weren't replaced last week. I was watching that video and they said something about the pads and how they weren't rubbing where there was that rust?

Does anyone else know what the issue is?

i got the same problem but my car has only 25k so far, also 08 MR.

the scratches only on the passenger front side, the other rotors are fine. this happened after i got the front pads change. i had hawk hps. the rear still having OEM ones.

here are some pictures, one from front driver side, one from front passenger side.

i checked the brake pad couple times but couldnt find anything. someone please jump on this and advise.

I am having the same issue!

I replaced my pads and got my rotors resurfaced and then the rust on the outside and inside of the rotor came about

its normal. the rear calipers are smaller than the fronts. just a side effect from mitsu saving some cost. replacing rotors/pads wont make any difference.

Perfectly fine and normal not hurting anything, cast iron rusts very easily.
