Helper Springs Positioning

I recently purchased a set of AST 4100's (AWESOME COILOVERS) and I placed the helper springs under the main springs. I have seen on other cars where the opposite took place and the helper springs were placed on top of the main spring directly underneath the tophats. My question is there an advantage of positioning the helper springs on top or below of the main springs?

Thanks in advance!

can't help you with the answer, but which spring rated did you get? make sure to post a review after you get them installed

What matters is that you put the helper in a place such that the separator ring (that keeps the helper aligned with the main) won't rub on anything. Beyond that, it doesn't really matter. I've seen arguments in favor of on top on the grounds of a tiny reduction in unsprung weight (since a compressed helper weighs more per inch than an uncompressed main), but it's a tiny difference. The only other real issue is avoiding getting any junk between the coils of the helper which could argue for on top or below, depending on car and use. Again, most often what determines where the helper goes is whether you have upright or inverted struts.

It doesn't matter where you put them, its all preference. Helpers don't do anything except prevent the springs from unseating when the suspension is unloaded.

Awesome man. I have the 4100s on order from gtworx right now. Just waiting for the next shipment. They recommended 450 front and 500 rear spring rates for me , mainly autox car and weekend driver. Let me know what you think when you get them on and some pics would be great. Any problems you run into post them up so i'll know lol should have mine in a few weeks!

Thanks for all the input guys. I have been busy at work and not able to reply. I am going to end up keeping them on the bottom.

I will post some pics and a brief write up regarding performance soon. All I can say right now is that they are awesome.
