BRAKE SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED light.

So when I drive around, every time I accelerate, dosent have to be hard. It seems when the nose pulls up from it, I get a Brake System Service required light pops on my dash, stays on for about 2 seconds then goes off. Ive tried keeping the Access port plugged in and tried reading the code its giving. And Ive only seen the code pop up once. "Immobilizer malfunction". I cant remember the code number however.

Any Ideas on what to look at?

You're low on brake fluid. Don't fill it though, once we put new pads in your car this weekend the level will go back up, then we'll top-off as needed. Pick up a pint of DOT4 fluid on your way over.

Just get the store brand generic, it's probably $4 The smallest bottle of DOT3/4 will be fine. Also pick up a few of the small packets of brake grease they keep by the registers.

I'd offer you some if I had any, but since brake fluid is hygroscopic I don't save partial bottles.

interesting... so I'm suppose to throw away open bottle brake fluid? I bought some DOT4 while doing CMC change.. used only 1/5 of the bottle..

Correct, once open it becomes worthless very quickly.

Sounds like the brake fluid shares this property with beer.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the "Brake" service notification pops on when overboosting (26PSI). I'm guessing you're running a Cobb map without an EBCS?

Light comes on for a 3 reasons. E-brake, leak in the hydraulic system, normal wear from pads calipers self adjust using more fluid.
