What size PSS on Wedssport SA55M 18x9+20 ?
I'm considering to pick up these wheels - Wedssport SA55M Matte Grey Machined 18x9+20.
Michelin PSS are the tires of my choice. What size should be the best fit for these wheels? I would like to go 265/35, but wondering whether it would be too flush. I don't want to sacrifice handling by going wider.
Also how much of a noticeable difference would be between 265 vs 255 tires? Considering these two scenarios: DD and Auto-X?

I agree, that how it is in general. But I'm actually looking for someone who actually run the setup to better assist me in my decision. Is 255 flush for this setup?

I believe tkromer is right with the tire size being 245. I never ran this set up and I know a lot of people usually get the 18x10 sa55m. However if the stock tire is 245 on an 8.5" rim and most people run 265 on a 9.5 rim, 255 is perfect for a 9 rim. But the michelin PSS run wide in width. So 245 would fit well

That answers the question. Since AWDs can't go wider than 245s in street-tire classes, you put 245s on the car, eh? And before you say that 9"-wide wheels are wasted on 245s, check to see how wide the wheels are on the Evos and Scoobys that have trophied in STU at Nationals for the last 5 years.

I'm not looking tires to win auto-x trophies. To be clear, my car is DD and would do occasional Auto-X. I'm yet to attend even a single auto-x event and yet to learn about their classes.
Anything wider than 245 is too much for Auto-x, is that what you are saying?
BTW, my car is already modded, so the stock class is ruled out.

Cars in the Stock class (note caps) run R-compounds. You are allowed many mods in the street-tire classes.
But let's drop the whole thing, since you don't seem to care.

I can't speak to 265, but I have run both 285 and 275 PSS on my car. 285 was flush, 275 stretch on 10" wheel. Every other 275 tire I've seen on a 10" wheel has been flush. So again, PSS runs narrow.

But you can look it up.
For example, the sponsor of this forum has a great website, providing such things as the tread-width (in addition to section width) for all tires that they sell. From their site (see, e.g., http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....um=635YR8PSSXL ), you can learn that the 265/35/18 PSS is 10.1" wide at the tread, even though the 275/35/18 PSS is only 10" wide at the tread. This is what Hikaru seemed to know and told/reminded us. And that's the kind of thing I would love to see more of, rather than the assumption, for example, that the 265 of some specific tire must be less width than the 275.

I run 245's on an 8.5in rim. They would definitely work for 9. they Are a very wide tire.
