New Summer Tires

So I’m looking to buy some summer tires that will see 5 to10 track days next year. I am also getting coil overs installed as soon as somecamber plates come in. I have 9.5 wheels with 265/35R18 PSS that I trashed in 7track days. I also have another set of 9.5 wheels that will get some streetable r-comps later this year.
Other previous tires I have used on the track are RE-11s,that held up only slightly better than the PSS, and some RS3, in a 277. I alsostarted tracking on the stock Yokos, which became very noisy in the end. I wasgoing to get some RS3s, but they are only available in 255s and 275s. So, mychoices are:
  • Potenza RE-11
  • Potenza RE-71R
  • Direzza ZII Star Spec
  • Advan Noeva AD08R

I'd go with the RE-71Rs. They're very competitive tires in SCCA/NASA.

RE-71R
Rival S

Both these tires were bumped out of NASA's street tires this year. Not sure why, but that's a good sign for performance.

I'm happy with my RE-71R, unless the road surface is very cold, but I think that's any summer tire.

I would just run RS3's in the 275 width.

Thanks for the input. Need to make a quick decision so I guess I'll go with the RE-71s.

RE-71's won't last like the others but will have more grip.

I love my AD08R's for street and track. Nice and quiet (compared to the others) and grip well for a street tire. Really nice stiff sidewall too. Only problem is they are more expensive.

I have the star spec Z2's on my Fiesta and really like them too. Also stiff sidewall and do well in the rain surprisingly and have been lasting well for a FWD tire spin car. Great response on track as well.

I like tires with stiff sidewalls. The RS3's always feel mushy to me.

I had Z2's before my RE11's, I liked them a lot, just too noisy on the street. Going to the RE11's did give up some grip. Now that the RE11's have some miles on them, they're starting to get noisy, but not nearly as bad as the Z2. I'll probably try BFG rivals next if the 275's fit.

Agree on the Z2 SS noise. Even at 215 width on my Fiesta it sounds like a swarm of angry bees following me around all the time.

The AD08R's are silent compared.

if you're going to trash them then get 255's, so you can buy a new set again, but defiantly the 71r's

I have ran 4 sets of AD08's and just got the 71r's today after a ton of research. I say go 71R's. Some reviews are putting them close to Hoosier a6's.

I am going to DD mine just to see how long I can get them to last.

As far as noise? That is up there with the MPG and trunk size. I get angry when I see those questions so I am going to meditate for a second.

My top pick there would be the B-Stone 71R followed pretty close by the Dunlop.

Cups are tires you can drive to the track if needed, and would offer more grip vs the others mentioned. However, they will wear quicker, are noisier, toss more debris from road to car because of the softer compound and have minimal wet traction. Lots of the cars that have those as an oe tire (Porsche, Vetes, etc) are track optioned cars.
