2014 Evo X Momentary Brake Failure

Currently driving a 2014 Evo GSR with 18,000 miles.

I was driving in the city with very mild traffic, I needed to stop because I was approaching a red light at about 30 mph. I clutched in, shifted to neutral, and gently hit the brakes, the car doesn't show any sign of slowing down. So I press the brake harder, to the point where I'm flooring it and ABS is kicking in, but the car is barely even slowing down! I had to pull the handbrake up just to avoid rolling into traffic. Once the light turned green I launched the car, pulled into a nearby empty lot, and the brakes were working just fine for the rest of the ride home.

My question is, has anyone ever experienced this issue before? Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I am going to check all 4 brakes tomorrow and leave an update if I find anything.

Thank you!!

Haven't done a brake flush myself recently. However, I think the dealership serviced the car recently when I took the car in for a faulty windshield wiper motor.

Sounds like you lost brake assist. Check all the vac lines and such around the brake booster.
