So considering 05's run higher boost, will a reflash mean less for an 05 then it would an 03/04? Or would it still be just/more significant because of the bigger turbo nozzle + 10.5 hotside?

i would think they need to redo the flash becasue of new stuff in the 05 to make it more advance then the 03/04 ones. but what do i know.

I think there is more to the O5 power than we are being told by mitsu. 109MPH trap speeds is a sh!tload more power than a 102MPH trap speed.

The 10.5 hotside definitely helps, but I think it's the 6 speeds in the MR's that is also helping alot. The torque manipulation that the 6 speeds have seems to help, especially in the 1/8 mile. I haven't seen the times that the 05 5 speeds are posting yet, it seems that the MR's are turning the best numbers. Any 05 5 speed guys willing to post their times and mods?

Put a hotside on an 03/04, and the 05's advantage melts away instantly. In fact, all the 03s and 04s I've played with on the dyno were more repeatable and easier to tune than the 05s. I've found the amount of tuning required to get an 05 to be spot-on is higher due to more aggressive timing up top in the 05's factory ECU.

It seems pretty easy for those of us in the Drag Racing forum...

I have yet to see an cammed 03-04s w/flashes at the track that could keep up with me and my minimal mods. I know there are tons of them out there that could hand me my ***, but the average joe with bolt-ons, cams, and flash doesn't put up good numbers at the track. I have had to work at getting my MR dialed-in, but I'm by no means an expert tuner, and I'm just using narrowband logging w/an S-AFC, so I wouldn't say 05s are that tough.

In this very thread, I already gave an examples of an 05 GSR who is right on my tail with a 12.29@111, and although he has a full TBE over my cat-back, he doesn't have an MBC or MR BOV like I do, so we're pretty even. He's only .07 off my time and has actually trapped higher (112) thanks to the gearing in 4th.

For what it's worth, when I went up to a Vishnu dyno day at NJ a couple months back, me, another '03, and one '05 all dynoed within 320-330whp range with the exact same mods (I have an 10.5 hotside as well). I was slightly lower at 312whp, but that's cause I had a cat still and the other two had test pipes. Once custom tuning comes into the picture, the '05's advantage really does go away.

EDIT: of course, we are talking power here only. The 05's do have the advantage of having the ACD and the FLSD...

Well, yes, with the 10.5 hotside, they should dyno the same, except for maybe the wastegate flapper. I thought we were referring to an 03 having the same mods as an 05 not including the 10.5 hotside.

Why, do cams keep an engine from blowing?
