Why are the 2005s so much quicker and faster than the 2003s/2004s?

Well not that I care, but can't 03/04 launch at 7K and 05's are limited to 5K stock? Should I assume that all of these great times were done launching above 5K on the 05's? It just seems really odd to me that 6hp and 13lb/ft can have such a great impact. In that case, after all my modding, I didn't really "feel" my car much faster after any mod thus far. And I'm sure I'd dyno at a lot higher than stock. I'm hoping this will change after my custom dynoflash and I probably got used to the extra power and don't notice it anymore.

I had that happend to me when I was modifying my VR4, I just get use to the extra power and the car would feel like it wasn't as powerful anymore, so I kept adding more power.

Just having a good tune on a stock Evo definitely provides good gain (see sig), but it would be tough to overcome a 40whp difference with an 03 just using a Xede...and that's just to be EVEN with the 05, much less killing it.

I'm very happy with my 03 and had even thought about trading in for the MR when it first came out I was just not happy with the markup and the improvements didn't really astound me as much as I thought they would have. I am looking forward to the IX MR.

Off-Topic:
I love the completely unrelated and random posts from users that just pop up in threads. We need to call the Orkin man every now and then.
On-Topic:
When I only had an intake and a BOV, I went at it with another 03 evo on a straight who had an intake and IC piping and walked him by quite a bit. He was surprised by how fast my car was. I think it has a lot to do with the 10.5.

My dyno in stock form showed this lull, and it is quite amazing:

Also his MR seems to die around 5500 RPMs where my 03 (due to the XEDE) pulls like a rabid beast all the way to redline. I'm not saying the 03 is better then the MR or any 05 for that matter I'm just saying that even if the 05's have a 10.5, and more aggressive tune, etc. doesn't mean that the 03 can not be up there with just a few mods (ex. 10.5 hotside). Thats already been noted. All in all they are both the same 4G63.

so how far can you rev the 05 evo8 like 7500 in each gear for best times. and power. but like turbo like full boost at like 3000rpm or maybe less or more. but thats where i feel most power like 2800rpm to 4200rpm just around there and keeps going to 5500rpm but then dies and then from there almost feels like a v4 pull almost and then kind of goes again at like say 6200rpm and then like to 7000rpm and then next gear. but maybe thats the torque that i feel the pull and then the hp after for the speed.

I feel no power at 2800, so I have no idea what that's all about. I don't start making any power until after 4000, and then it pulls like a raped ape all the way to redline (7600rpm). Yes, the turbo spools up before 4000, but that's just tht torque getting started like you said (I think). The HP doesn't peak until around 7000 rpm, and that's how high you should go every time that you want to go fast if you're racing.
For instance, at the drag strip, this is a rough estimate of my shift points:
1st - launch hard, full boost hits immediately but dies off quick - snapshift at 6800
2nd - already at 5400rpm, pulls hard until I powershift at 7300
3rd - already at 5600rpm, pulls hard until I powershift at 7300
4th - again at 5600 rpm, pulls hard to redline, which I hit 50 feet before the traps
5spd gearing is different, so you won't run out of gear in 4th, but your shifts points should be similar.
