throw out bearing
i've had my car for about 2 weeks now and have just tonight noticed what sounds like a bad throw out bearing. i'm not sure tho i'm gonna get it to work this week and get it up on a lift. maybe get one of the seasond techs to take a gander at the noise, but i was wondering if anyone has had an issue with them going bad.
thanks

I think I have a bad throw out bearing as well. It makes a chattering noise not in gear with clutch pedal up, but the sound goes away when I press down on the clutch. For some reason the chattering is worse when I put the ac on...odd, I know. Another thing I notice from time to time is that when putting the car into gear at a dead stop it was nudge forward a bit. It's been making the noise after having the car 2 wks. My car is a year old and I haven't had any real problems since noticing it. I figured I have a 10 yr drivetrain warranty, and I'll use it when needed.

The EVO is not the only Mitsubishi that does it. Sure, you can get it fixed, but the noise will eventually come back.

Not entirely, if it is coming from the valves its normal. If you put the clutch in and it goes away then its the throw-out bearing (thrust bearing) This should be covered under warrinty.
