Why no Super AYC in US evo?
Hi there,
Im new to the Evo scene. I have a 3G eclipse and i love it to death but it sucks in the winter ( I got stuck in the snow several times) and now I want AWD. Ive been saving my $ so i can buy a new Evo, and when i finally pay off my last payment on the eclipse i will trade it in for the IX or a VII. (Im still deciding on IX or the VII)
I have been researching the Evo for a while and i read somewhere that the current US LAN Evo will not have the AYC control and the water spray was removed, but only the ACD remained. How come AYC was not put in the VII?
I read that the Evos going to Europe will have it as a standard option with the water spray also as standard.

Will Mitsubishi put it in for the IX? Or for the X?
Will they be options i can get Mitsubishi to place in?
Does someone know?
Thanks

I think the reason for no SAYC is due to packing reasons, we have emission stuff on the gas tank (evaporative) where as JDM, UKDM, do not. Getting a VII good luck there were never offically released in the US. Only a few people have them, insuring it might be a problem and also if VII SAYC has problems you SOL. No dealer knows anything about it.

I think the main reason why it isn't offered in the US models is it would be a pretty big price increase, and would probably bump the car out of the "30k mark". And I'm not sure if you didn't know this but the evo did have the intercooler water sprayer in the 03 and 04 models, but got rid of it in 05. But the 03 and 04's didn't have ACD, only the 05's have ACD. The intercooler sprayer is no biggy, you can make one from home depot for $20.

I dont think the cost of the Evo would be much higher. But IMO I think they didnt put AYC in the USDM Evos is cause of warrenty issues. America likes to drag race,do 7k launchs, and wonder why their clutch goes out a 5k miles.
But thats just my opinion
