Evo 9 Downpipe and Exhaust

Does anyone have any suggestions on 3 inch downpipes and exhaust for a evo 9? I have heard the hks hi powered cat back is good for the evo 8's. Also, do all evo 8 exhausts fit the 9. Thanks.

Make sure the DP you purchase is designed for 05+ evos, otherwise there will be fitment issues. Most manufacturers make 05+ specific models.

Dont stress about 3", I suggest a 70mm Tanabe so you KNOW it fits. Stock turbo Evos make the same, if not more, power with a 70mm vs. 3" DP.

On the 9 this is what I personally know fits:

Turbo XS
Greddy Ti

When I say fit I mean slap it on and its perfect - no hacking required outside of removing the heat shield over the carrier bearing.

HKS Carbon Ti fit like crap, but I think some production fits fine.

A thing about HKS, they are not true 3" cat backs as they kneck down to 2.5 which hurts flow. Avoid. They sound great though, I will give them that.

That shop in San Diego uses HKS Carbon Ti mufflers and uses their own stainless 3" tubing which sounds nice. Check for sale forum for their current prices.

i have tanabe 2.75" dp (fits perfect), but might get the WORKS 3" if the price is right and it fits. magna flow 3" HFC and custom 3" piping with hks carbon/ti muffler (cuz hks piping was rubbing on the driveshaft).

the blitz 2.75 fits perfect too. I get full boost at 3100rpm with it (at least what the dynapack says.)

We have not heard of any issues of using EVO8 catbacks on EVO9's. Our fitment tests have not shown any major differences between the two models for that particular area.
