Eh... It's not salvage and it looks to be in pretty good condtion. Id assume if it was with a fixed object it was the front of the car though... But why a police report? It must've been something expensive as im sure he didnt file it on himself right?

It appears he got it thu a auction that it was at for about a month and he must have a dealers lisc. to buy it and thought he could turn it around and make some money or that he is selling it when he only put a few thousand miles on it because it needs work... i dont know but i dont believe the story about the nissan.
I call b/s on that.

Well... I have no idea what to do. I hate used cars, but this could be an amazing deal... I could probably get him to ship the car to me and let me look it over before paying... but If i don't like it, i gotta ship it back or I'm out 790 bucks (using DAS).
What if I have the car shipped to me, and take the evo to the bodyshop and have it inspected, make sure it's okay, drive it some, take it to mitsu, make sure all is fine... and if it goes well, I keep it. If not, I send it back.

you think he will allow you to have the car in your hands without paying for it in full and without him being right there..? highly doubtfull. I say drive there look at it.. bring someone thats experienced in bodywork. Look it over, drive it...and make a choice then. You will have a few days taken and prolly less than $700 but that way your not loosing $18,000 you may only loose a few hundered.

I will talk to him tomorrow and let you know. I could ask him to please take extremely detailed pictures of the whole car, inside and out right? I'm sure he could do that for me.
I'm off to bed, thank you EiEVO... I'll let you know how it goes, haha.

what sort of kid has a 350z and a evo... wtf?!? your parents are going to front you 18.5K for an evo but not the money to get your other 30K car out of an impound lot?? does not compute. i dunno bout the accident, was it the owner before him?? i wouldn't buy it without looking at the frame but that's just me... go with your gut... oh and on the police report thing... cops in h.b. have NOTHING else to do

I want to go for it, i dont know why, but i do.
What if i find someone on here who owns an Evo to look at it for me? And test drive it? I'm willing to pay them a little bit as well. However, i don't know anyone reliable enough from CA. Any thoughts?
Also, Fresno, his 350z was in the impound lot. He had to get it out before it was too late, so he loaned money from his relatives to pay for it to get it out. Now he has it back, but owes all his relatives money...
Be back tomorrow morning, around noon central time.

1. The kid has an impounded 350z due to street racing so we can only assume that he can only be as smart as the average wannabe 2f2f teenager
2. He lied on the eBay auction and to you, it does NOT have a clean title when he claimed it did
3. The car went through an auction so that sounds extremely shady as to why it was sold like that
4. There's a VTA bov that is BAD for an evo and a horrible airfilter, so i can only assume this car was modded incorrectly and BADLY driven.
In all, everything adds up here to a impending car break down espically with this hard to believe low price and the lengths this owner is willing to sell to you, I would AVOID this at all costs but it's your decision. One thing i've learned in life is things to good to be true, ARE to good to be true.

I will talk to him later today...
However, he works very long hours (11-9ish) as he told me last night on the phone. I decided that I am going to just flat-out ask him where he payed for the car from. If he lies, im done with this one. Ill also ask him about the accident, even though it is possible that he had no idea about it if you think about it... Since it happened with the owner before him.
But, i really want a nice, very well taken care of, not abused Evo. This Evo sure doesn't look like the one for me then, lol.

Def sounds like a scam to me. I have seen this done before on ebay a couple of times. For ex: I saw a '05 STI for $7,000. Car looks immaculate. But there was a catch, he recently moved to europe and could not register the subie there (how convienent). So he wanted someone to wire him $7,000 western union, not paypal. Then the auction came off of ebay and he was directly emailing me. Saying the other buyer backed out and what not. After payment he would ship the car to me and all is well....
Well guess what? It was a scam. I didn't fall for it and neither should you.

Well, it is clean. However it was in an accident.
slow_evo- The car is registered in cali and the guy lives there... How does that look like this auction at all? I have seen what you saw though too.

pretty shady....but for the price i guess it's worth checking out a bit more....
i agree just go on www.socalevo.net (southern California Evo board) and ask if anybody knows that guy.
judging from the seller's history with racing, and the crappy mods he has on his car, and a broken clutch....i would avoid the car at all cost as well...
u might be able to get hooked up from ur friend's dad to fix all the damage, but all the down time will probably drive u nuts.
good luck mate. let us know how it goes
