Sounds like an intercooler hose popped off somewhere. Usually the rubber elbow that connects to the throttle body pops off (in my experience). It's a good idea to always carry a ratchet and socket/wrench/screwdriver/etc and a flash light in your Evo @ all times. Saved myself a few times already, in fact.. it happened on my way to work the other night (and I just happened to be late already ).

Dont worry too much.
I am pretty sure it's just the intercooler clamp.
Mitsubish might as well have just use rubber bands to clamp the hose down instead of using that cheap-a$$ clamp they use.
