hey guys this is going to be my first post on here and i have a few ? to ask because im currently in the market of getting a evo 9.

1. are you able to down shift the evo 9 ? becaus i was told that you cant down shift in a evo 9.

2.i want to reach over 300 whp what the best thing i can do to reach over 300whp?

3. if i put any body mods such as lips will that void the warrenty?

4. my last ? is if you want to put after market parts on your evo and let the dealer put it on will it void the warrenty or if you order the parts through the dealer will that work ? the reason i asked because my friend took her sti and did that and alot after market parts are covered.

1) that is the silliest thing i ever heard. it's a regular manual trans, yes u can downshift.

2) a full 3" turbo back exhaust filter, & a flash will put u over 300WHP on pump gas.

3) body mods don't void warranties-cat delete pipes & internal mods do.

4) dealers don't usually install aftermarket parts & if they do it's rare & the work is not always warranteed. save your $ & learn to work on your own car or don't waste your time buying it. u will benefit from the knowledge of how a part works if u install it yourself. Subaru is a mod friendly manufacturer bcuz alot of people rally. it is not unheard of for Subie's to get modded but it's hit or miss at dealers...

I'm curious. Who told you that an Evo can't be downshifted? What was the reason for it?

+1

Come on man, what kind of questions are these? Of course you can downshift in an EVO! To reach 300whp all you really need is a flash. Try to do your own work, but not all of us are mechanically gifted, so there are plenty of shops that work on EVOs that can help you out with that for decent prices. Yeah take the time to research the forums and car some more, there is a wealth of knowledge on here.

What the crap are you talking about?? I can't even follow what you are saying.....read the rules and post in somewhat reasonable sentences and understandable English. I'd really like to help you out, but I am prying my eyeballs out with a fork right about now after reading this.

sorry man ok i will type it again.

the reason why i ask such a question about down shifting a evo is, because theres this guy i know that owns a modded talon told me that you cant down shift in a evo because something with the tranny that i couldnt understand..but i use to have a modded civic that ran 13.9 in 1/4 mile and i use to down shift alot..

also i said, im a honda guy. i read and learn everything about honda motors and there cars. im also going to need time to learn more about the evo..

Oh, ok. I am all about the downshifting, nothing bad has happened to the car as of yet as a result of it. Welcome, and have a good time finding all the answers you need, as there are many smart people here ready to help out.

Good luck.....If you're in southern NJ, check out Winner Mitsu in Dover, Del. I drove down from the CT to get my EVO there.....Good place to buy!

the Evo is a great ride, you love it! Keep in mind that the Evo comes with its downfalls as well. You said you drove a modded civic, I used to have a modded 7thgen civic myself and traded it in for the Evo. The Evo's maintenance costs are going to be a little higher than your civic and since your civic was only pushing 13.9's, i'm pretty sure your gas mileage was still respectable. However, in my opinion the Evo is like a fine wine, whereas the civic is more like Kool-aid in comparison. By the way, do us all a real big favor and slap the Talon owner as hard as you can for being a moron

Chinito84,

I think you need to settle down a bit on the world of common sense. Have you take a moment to think about your question? you are asking us if the Evo 9 can shiftdown? what kind of question is that?

Then you are asking us if the dealer would void a warranty if you put a front lip? where is your common sense?

Then you said that you were told that you can't shift on the Evo 9. Who is telling you all that crap?
