Ok, seriously.....look in the paper and buy some old pile of crap 1984 V6 Camaro with a manual. You should be able to hunt one down for about $800.
Another option is to troll the local trailerparks. There's a good chance you'll find a V6 Camaro for cheaper than that.
Offer Roscoe $800 and he'll probably jump on it. Just tell him he could buy some new tires to throw on the roof of his trailer to help make for a better seal.

finished brakes and now going to test em out on my way to the gas station for gas and a few auto magazines/newspapers....later

Just go to a dealership and tell them you're interested in a car (one that's stick). You're gonna wanna drive it before you buy it have the guy there teach you tell him you'll think about it and never come back.

ok well to my luck i went over to my friends house who had friends over and one of them had a stick oz rally....the guy was joking about stick lessons for 50 bucks a hour...i got it down to 20...but still i said i had no money and that i would just buy a beater...well then they where making fun of me that i would kill the car 40 times before i got it moving in first....so his friend takes me and showes me the concept i understand it but there where some new parts....i was kinda nervouse being it someone elses car in all....so i took off fine..did not kill it..so i was real good after first but i had a real problem with his firt gear i could engage it but had trouble slowly accelerating so rather i was jerky....coming from a hybrid...lol the confuseing part was how late the clutch grabs..lol but i love stick its the ****....they said i was a natural but coming from underpowered cars is what makes it so hard for me to drive in first....i kept missing 3rd for some reason i thought it was way farther apart....i guess its just one of those things that if you understand the concept you can learn real quick rather than some people that take longer...but yea i need a beater to to get used to performance....and traffic...lol

I learned on a 93 S10 truck, really easy to learn on not enough motor to freak you out. Go find a steep hill and try to stop halfway up it then get the thing going again, by the time you reach the top you will be a seasoned pro good luck and happy motoring

Another vote for a Civic. I actually learned on an 86 Mazda 626. Toughest part was getting started on a hill. Make sure you ease out of the clutch and give it some gas.
Last year, I bought a 1990 Civic sedan for $400 (then sold it two weeks later). Ran perfectly well. If you want something less than $1k and easy to work on, can't beat a Civic. Then after you get used to a stick, you can swap in an H22.

Hey future evo fellow, I learned to drive stick in a 94 civic del sol, sweet little car, I also passed on the knowledge to almost a dozen other friends, in the end 2nd gear was about gone but it serves it purposes. Basically you can learn stick in 30 minutes or less but you still need at least a week of normal driving to get used to it. After all this it's just second to nature. So yes keep up the manual tranny trend and don't let the Shift-tronics rule us hehe.
