plastic gas pedal restrictor?
what is that little circular piece of plastic that is behind the gas pedal on the IX's for? it is attached to the floor, not the pedal. is it a restrictor of some sort so you aren't able to give it "full throttle" or what?

same thing is on my '05 8. i'm really not sure, but on my friend's clk, when you push the pedal to that piece, it isn't full throttle, but when that circular piece gets pushed in by the pedal, the car downshifts and you just get a surge of power. but definitely dont know why with the evo.

LEAVE IT THERE.
It isn't there to stop you from going full throttle, I promise. With an SAFC, I've definitely seen 100% throttle.
It's there to keep you from bashing the gas pedal into the floorboard, Mr. Leadfoot.

even if you took it off you wouldnt be able to mash the gas to the floor because the bracket the plastic piece bolts to is raised up off the floor the same height as the plastic circle.

It's like the cheapest thing on the whole car. My first one popped off within two months or so and would not stay on. Covered by warranty, got a new one and it's been hangin on for a couple of years now. If it pops off again I'll replace with a coupling and a bolt. But ya, it's just a dead stop so you don't over crank the cable and throttle.
