Discount Tire messed up my car...what to do?
Just had my front tires balanced and they said that they cross threaded one of the bolts (I guess you would call it a bolt but it's what the lug nut goes on). They said they would pay for the replacement and a new lug nut from Meineke. My concern is, is there anything I need to be aware of if they are replacing one of the bolts? Do our bolts come in some specialty size or material? They would have to take off the rotor to replace the bolt right? I just want the damn thing fixed and fixed without any drama. I can understand accidents happen, but I just want to make sure when they are fixing it that those dummies at Meineke don't mess up anything else.

yeah its not a big deal at all. U take off the rotor and caliper. Then u smack the messed up stud with a hammer and it falls out. then u take a new stud with a lug nut and press it back in. Takes less then 30 mins in the front maybe 45 in the rear due to the e brake drums.

I am Not sure, what is involed in Replacing a Stud (thats what the Bolt part is Called) on an Evo, I would assume you would have too remove the rotor, on some cars even the Hub. So The Caliper has to come off. The Worst thing I think that could happen would be they chip your Caliper Paint. But Someone else will come and Correct my Misinformation (that has been happening alot when i Express my OPINION or THOUGHTS)

Well, they told me to tell Meineke to bill them, but I'm going to the dealer tomorrow morning, getting an OEM stud and lug nut and have Meineke put it on and either Meineke will reimburse me of the OEM or Discount will. Either way, someone will pay for the factory replacements. I can deal with my lost time and gas.

I refuse to go to Discount, They ruined 2 of my rims on my eclipse when I took them to have the tires replaced. Then you have to sit there and barter with them over such bs. Lucky you it was only a simple stud and nothing cosmetic.

well, the on the rim, the hole where the stud and lug nut sit, there is some surface scratches. I'm not gonna make a big deal about that but next and everytime I will tell them to tighten using a torque wrench and nothing else.
